Children's Entertainers Association

A Not For Profit Association of Professional Children’s Entertainers

Welcome to CENTA

As you may be aware there have been major changes in the requirements of people who work with Children in Australia.

These changes have come from recommendations from the Royal Commission into Child Sexual Abuse. They are coming from the National Office of Child Safety, which reports directly to the Prime Minister’s Department.

Having a working with children check is not enough anymore. Every entertainer, ride or jumping castle supervisor, Santa, face painter etc. will need the following policies and procedures.

-A Child safe Organisation Statement

-A Complaints handling procedure

-A Current history check in the State or Territory they are working in

-A Child protection risk management policy

-A Recruitment policy

As the industry association we have drafted each required policy and procedure, as well as an industry Code of Conduct.

It is not enough to simply agree to the T’s and C’s and consider yourself compliant. We have developed short online workshops covering each of the policies. Once you have successfully completed these workshops, and agreed to uphold the code of conduct, you will be able to adopt the policies and procedures as your own.

CENTA is an Australia wide Not for Profit Association. Your annual $99 membership fee will cover admin costs and wages. We will also be keeping you up to date with any events, legislation changes etc. If you join before 1 July 2019, your first year’s membership will be free.

As a member you will be offered discounts on equipment, legal and accounting advice, and book keeping software.

By being a member of CENTA, you are joining a family of entertainers who are committed to the protection of our children, and who are dedicated to providing a professional experience for the customer.
